THE NEW POTENTIAL OF ZIRCONIA

KATANA ZIRCONIA MULTI-LAYERED SERIES—The cutting edge of natural beauty

Our KATANA Zirconia Series brings naturalness to all your restorations. So, no more zirconia that looks too opaque and white? Absolutely!
KATANA Zirconia UTML is perfect for anterior restorations, such as veneers. Thanks to its natural translucency and natural color gradient.

With KATANA Zirconia STML your full contour restorations will look truly natural for the first time. This means that you get more opacity in the cervical area and more translucency in the incisal area. You can now feel confident that you will receive natural results regardless of the abutment color.

Adjusting and Polishing

  • Use a friction grip slow speed handpiece
  • Adjust solid zirconia restorations with water and air spray using a fine-grit diamond with light pressure to avoid potential microfractures
  • Polish using the medium rubber polisher high shine wheel at a slower speed (5,000 RPM) and use medium pressure, then inmove to higher speed but with a very light touch.
  • Finish with a fine rubber polisher high shine wheel to achieve a highly polished surface. This is typically done at higher speed (15,000) and with a light touch, just to buff it to a high shine.
  • Polishing paste should be used with a bristle brush wheel in a slow speed latch handpiece.

Recommended Cementation

  • Glass ionomer and resin modified glass ionomer cements are the most commonly used.
  • When considering bonding of zirconia restorations to the tooth, realize that the conventional methods applied to the bonding of silica-based ceramics are not successful. You cannot acid etch and silanate the intaglio surface as you can with lithium disilicate (e.max) or other glass ceramic restorations.

Seating Recommendations and Protocol

Research has shown that saliva contamination can inhibit the bond of solid zirconia and zirconia oxide copings. To successfully remove saliva, it is suggested that after try-in and before priming, the crown should be cleaned with Ivo- clean, a zirconia oxide solution from Ivoclar-Vivadent.

Seating Protocol

Step 1 – Try in the restoration and make any necessary adjustments

Step 2 – Rinse saliva out of restoration with water

Step 3 – Place Ivoclean in restoration for 20 seconds, rinse and dry

Step 4 – Apply Primer and then cement with product of your choice
